NTMA publishes Annual Funding Plan for 2024

  • Plans to issue €6 billion to €10 billion of bonds during the year
  • Intends to conduct at least one syndicated bond deal in 2024
  • No issuance of Treasury Bills currently expected

30 November 2023 - The National Treasury Management Agency (NTMA) plans to issue €6 billion to €10 billion of bonds over the course of 2024.

The NTMA will issue a statement at the beginning of each calendar quarter outlining its bond auction plans for that quarter. It also intends to conduct at least one syndicated bond deal during the year.

As was the case in 2023, the NTMA does not currently expect to issue Treasury Bills in 2024.

Dave McEvoy, NTMA Director of Funding and Debt Management, said:

We are entering 2024 from a position of strength and have a large degree of flexibility in meeting Ireland’s funding needs. We expect to have a relatively limited borrowing requirement next year as the fiscal outlook remains robust and the Exchequer continues to maintain healthy cash balances.

The bond funding range we are announcing today reflects these factors, as well as the importance of maintaining bond market presence and providing liquidity to Ireland’s benchmark curve.
